Last Friday's session

This was the first one painted on Friday, before lunch, looking into the ravine with the sun behind me. The one below was painted after lunch, my energy level was definitely lower and the values are more tentative and just overall more "meh." BUT I got my camera working again!

  1. I think Jan's first painting is very sensitive and exquisite. Wish I had done that.

  2. Ya, just like me! How do you like the lines where I jammed it into my carrier and swiped paint off right through the middle?

  3. Really nice morning painting! Such good contrast and painterly brushstrokes. Yeah, the carriers can do bad things to paintings. Mine decorates my panels with little beads of styrofoam.
So glad your camera is working again!

  4. I've been wondering how it's been for you being back at work this week. Gin and I have talked about not wanting to feel pressured to produce some specific number, in recognition of our "real" lives, but at the same time recognizing the need to push ourselves at least a bit, in order to make some headway.

  5. You articulate the problems well. This week I have to finish two pieces of rosemaling. I worked on one last night until midnight. I hope to finish it tonight. That's going to put a crimp in my studies. But, I plan to do at least one bw this week and one color painting. I do feel the key to understanding paint is to paint. There seems to be a correlation between painting a lot and competency--imagine that.
