1st & 2nd atttempts at BW&4C painting exercise

Second attempt at this exercise.

This was my first attempt at the black and white/ color exercise. I really think this is helping me to "cut to the chase" when deciding what is worth painting and what to let go. Don's painting of the tree is wonderful. I will try this again!

  1. I like this, Jan. You kept the values through to the color version and the combination of the hard and soft lines of the house and tree is very pleasing.

  2. I never saw a tree I didn't like, but this one is absolutely beautiful.

  4. This is such a cool way to "see" your process, I can almost imagine you talking about it as you paint. Was it any easier the 2nd time around?

  5. It was easier to make the value judgements on the simplified forms the second time around.

From about 20 feet I can really see the values are pretty close in all four panels. That, I was pleased to see.

Not sure if I got too putsy on the more defined versions.
