House on Angel Hill

Hi everyone:
This was one from our workshop where my painting was almost entirely Viridian green. (Hopefully, I've tamed that a little!) Also, it's my first attempt at a building. There was a lot of gnashing of teeth over the windows. Does the glint on the left window look too hokey? (It almost looks like the window is winking at you!) Maybe there's another way to do the reflection. -- Jeanne

  1. Another nice job on using green and showing light. I like how lush everything looks and how the brush strokes seem confident and fresh. I'm not sure I would have thought anything about the window reflection but now that you ask I'd vote for skipping the white stroke in the lower window pane.
    Very nice job!

  2. Nice painting. The house sits well among the trees. The window reflection doesn't bother me.

  3. Thanks for your comments Jan and Gin. Looking at the photograph, I can see the reflection in the window of a tree from across the street. Maybe I'll try that. Also, if I had done a value study (er--sheepish grin, here!), I would have noticed that the trees on the right have some dark, dark shadows in them. Better add some of those, too!

Anyway, thanks for your feedback. It's very much appreciated! Have a lovely 4th!
